Freeview / TOP-UP TV / SETANTA

Cheapest and easiest option, around 30 TV channels plus radio, through your existing TV aerial or if your signal is not good enough you may need a new aerial. No subscription, three HD channels coming in late 2009. Add a selection of live and on-demand channels with TOP-UP TV, and Premiership football from Setanta.
When Freeview HD launches you will need a new box to get HD. Around 30 per cent of homes need an aerial upgrade. The number of Freeview channels can not be increased.

FREESAT

More than 100 channels through a satellite dish, with no subscription. Includes HD from the BBC and ITV. Ethernet expansion for on-demand, and final line-up will exceed 200 channels. Freesat equipment is designed for ease of use.
Most receivers have limited features for tuning non-Freesat channels(except Humax).
